Chapter Eleven

Energy zipped through Kelly, making her feel like she’d downed a vat of Red Bull. She felt Jax behind her as she slipped her key in the lock, let them into her apartment building. Their bodies moved in tandem, him behind her, his hand on her hip, his mouth sending bursts of pleasure along her skin with every touch. There was a giddy excitement rising up inside of her that she’d only felt once before.

The elevator took an eternity until finally they were at her door. She dropped her keys when his fingers moved across her stomach, pulling her tighter against him.

“You dropped something.” She felt his smile against her neck.

She took her time, bending over to pick up the keys, rose back up with deliberately slowness. It was her turn to smile as he swore under his breath and gripped her hips. Once she’d unlocked the door, she all but threw her purse on the floor before turning to fuse her body and mouth to his. They left a trail of clothes on the way to her bedroom, which, thankfully, was only a few short steps.

As he lay her down on the duvet, against her mountain of pillows, she realized that he was the first man she’d had in her bed. In her personal space. Her home. Your heart. It was too late to deny it.

Jax took her hand and held her gaze as he turned it, kissed her fingertips, the center of her palm, her wrist, continuing down her arm. She arched against him, acutely aware of the heaviness of her heartbeat. The weight of his stare. When she thought he’d kiss her mouth, he surprised her again by going through the same journey along her other arm. Kelly ran her hand over the sleek, hard muscles of his chest, enjoying the view. They hadn’t rushed their first time together but she hadn’t stopped to fully appreciate how powerful and sexy he was.

He braced his body over hers using his forearms and stared down at her with an expression she couldn’t read. Wrapping one leg around his, urging him closer, she was happy to see his smile.

“What are you waiting for?” Her voice came out breathy but she wanted him so badly, she didn’t care. She’d slept with two other men but those experiences hadn’t prepared her for the magic of Jax. When she’d first seen Jax, it hadn’t even felt like a choice. It was all need. Like she’d been waiting specifically for him.

“I’m not waiting. I’m enjoying. I like looking at you. You’re beautiful.” He traced his index finger across her hairline. She shut her eyes to absorb the touch. Did he remember telling her that the first time? She’d wondered if he meant it but now, with his touch, with the gentle patience and the soft cadence of his voice, she could feel that he did.

“You’re pretty easy to look at yourself,” she said. Going up on her elbows, she ran kisses over his jaw, her fingers trailing over his neck, as she listened to his uneven breaths.
